I was in the market for a new poop house for my cats for a number of reasons. First, the dust! The uncovered litter boxes leave everything in my basement with a coating of dust on them- so gross. Additionally, my cats are in the habit of kicking more litter out of the box than what’s actually left in the box. Annoying.
This leads me to the solutions granted by this new poop house! Its cover contains all the dust and keeps us from having to smell or see what’s been left behind. My kids very much appreciate this while they’re playing in the same space. So far, it is containing the dust and bonus, it’s knocking off the extra littler stuck in their paws as they climb out.
The door concept did take some getting used to- I had one derp figure it out quicker than the other. She’s sort of still struggling with it, so I haven’t totally abandoned the other litter box yet.
The charcoal filter feature is nice I suppose but honestly, it seems like just having it covered is doing enough to contain everything but I’ll see if there’s any long term, noticeable difference.
The stainless steel has helped in keeping the sides relatively clean. My other plastic litter box often gets wet litter stuck on the sides of it. Plus stainless just feels more sanitary because it’s not porous.
My only complaint is that the top part that lifts off is a times a tiny bit annoying to unclip, as the buttons sometimes get stuck in an inverted position. It may also help if it had a handle on the top.
All in all, as the title suggests, yes, it’s a pricier litter box and while it’s not an automatic fancy machine, the features in my opinion make it worth it. It’s something you won’t have to replace for the foreseeable future .
